the maternity guidebook

let’s plan this thing, darlin

option 1 - IN-HOME

these always have an intimacy to them that is breathtaking. you in your element. where you spent so much of your time during pregnancy. probably where you took your test and found out this little nuggest was coming. where you survived the first trimester. and where you will bring this little cherub home to. so, so soon.

option 2 - my field

these have a powerful dynamic to them that I adore. mother earth type of energy. outdoor light is always a dream. the paradox of your sheer dress or your belly out in nature is always incredible. i have a favorite field that i adore shooting at because it always, always brings the magic. or if you have somewhere sentimental to you then that sounds like a dream to me too!

OPTION 3 - DOWNTOWN

ya’ll know i live for the city look. these have such a vibrancy and level of chic that is unmatched. it’s giving carrie bradshaw but like pregnant.

what should i wear?

maternity is the best time to wear something you would never actually wear. a see-through dress. a sheet. your man’s white button down left unbuttoned. or be naked! love some prego nudes. seeing your belly is my favorite. wearing an absolutely fabulous dress another favorite. being skin-tight is absolutely stunning or some incredible textures and fabrics are absolutely stunning.

something about knee-length dresses can crop you oddly during pregnancy. if you are wearing something form-fitting, make sure it doesn’t connect from boobs to belly and give you a uni-bump. dresses with slits are always flattering and photogenic.

can my kids and partner be in them?

for sure!! we love a half and half type of situation but we really can do as much solo verse family as you want!

what should they wear?

styling has a massive impact on how your images will look and is a lot of the creativity that YOU get to bring to the table to reflect yall! Put a lot of love into it - it will show that you did!

texture! linens. denims. knits (done in a flattering way) are all super photogenic fabrics.

what to avoid for everyone

-for boys - hard no to stiff collars or tucked-in shirts like they are going to work or golf. they should look relaxed - henleys, t-shirts, sweaters. lighter can photograph better than darker.

-black is hard. it doesn’t show texture the way other colors do so it can really take away the shape and texture of a look. the way it works best is if it’s really fitted and your silhouette is the look you are going for. and if it is the look you love - it works best outdoors where the light is brighter.

-chunky sweaters. I know they are cozy and I know we love the texture but we want to see your shape. the bulky shoulder aspect of it doesn’t give us what we want. anything too boxy would fit in this same category. *chunky sweaters DO work IF they are worn off your arms and thrown into your elbow creases like you are going yachting later

-logos! athletic fabrics! overwhelming/large prints! being bland!

STILL FEELING LOST?

If this wasn’t specific enough and you want even more hard and fast opinions - you are always safe with a white dress! they are always, always photogenic. just enough fit to see your shape and just enough flow to show the movement. go order something from Doen or Sezane or Christy Dawn - nothing on any of those websites will let you down.

*payment is due the day of the shoot and delayed payments will result in delayed gallery delivery. gallery will be sent 3 weeks after payment.

*please be on time and ready so we don’t have time lost from our hour together

*clients who cancel within one week of the scheduled shoot date, where it was a preventable last-minute cancellation, will not get re-booked (ever)
