in the redwoods with the alpaca

just south of the bay area, after you drive up through the redwoods, you end up on top of this cliff overlooking monterey and surrounded by alpacas and more seas of redwoods. the whole scene is enchanting out of this world and getting to party with amanda and ian after literally years of anticipating it was everything.
don’t miss the silent disco at the end. i had never heard of it before and it’s now my new favorite thing in the universe. the dj has headphones for each guest to have their music on while they dance which is convenient for noise ordinances but it also makes dancing 100000x more fun.

you might recognize them from a few blogs down when we captured their home before they packed up for Seattle - so when they got engaged they wanted to do something new since we had already done the in-home thing. grant had the idea for a dive bar. he loved this one. rowena picked up everything all the goods and we made some serious magic together.

we planned their engagements at enchanted rock because its unbelievable landscapes are truly unmatched. and when we got there, that blessed huge ass rock really made us work for it in the 90+ heat and scorching sun. we got as much with maddox as we could before he tapped out then finished the climb just us to make some more magic.

there was more joy and ear-to-ear smiles and happy sobs and pure giddiness than imaginable. at a breathtaking private residence in encinitas with that sweet sunshine and friends that all have impeccable style and knew how to party hard from start to finish.

engagement photos taken where you actually spent engagement is one of my favorite ways to document. it holds so much meaning as the years pass and you forget what those walls looked like where you dreamed up your life together. it’s what i love about in-homes. they grow in sentiment more than anything. we took shots of whiskey, played piano, and climbed on the roof. all before we headed off to run through the wildflower fields and dodge spider eggs. and where laura was adamant about figuring out how to cliff jump, which after hunting down someone else crazy enough to do it, we figured out.
christian you are lucky af to have someone who will make cliff jumping happen no matter what. and laura you are lucky af to have someone test it out for you to make sure you don’t die. lol. love you guys and cannot for your wedding next year.
in the rain
we watched the storm roll in, danced in the pouring rain, then stripped down to chonies to run through the wildflowers. it was the perfect night.
this whole evening was nothing short of magical. but we also got to spend the entire weekend in this magic. jen & chris wedding was originally on the very beginning of COVID so they had to cancel the week before. all was postponed a year and just fine - but our next hiccup was I got knocked up and my due date was the week of their reschedule date. i begged them to come crash with my squad in austin and it worked. i kinda forgot we had never met before when they showed up at the house, and very conveniently we all loved each other enough to want to spend the whole weekend together. we made some lifelong friends through this and i’m so thankful for their hearts and adventure and kindness.

tucked between the iconic dallas architecture and skyrises is the most breathtaking garden you’ve ever seen. these two spent the whole day with all their people, under the shade of the oak trees lined with twinkly lights, soaking up every second of the day. the somehow pulled some strings to get the josh weathers band, a fort worth legend, to play at their wedding - and the party turned into the most intimate concert with the best dancing anyone had ever been to.

their beautiful family, their closest family and friends, set in the hill country outside of Austin at Villa Antonia which feels like you were transplanted to Italy. every detail from their day was enchanting and watching their sweet family celebrate together had me with all the feels all day long.

forever in a blizzard

they rented an enormous airbnb in breckinridge, big enough to home their huge group of friends, and all these texans made the trek up to the snowy colorado mountains. we ran into multiple curveballs -like the wedding location getting snowed out and a blizzard rolling through, but they never stopped smiling. i’ve never seen anyone so un-phased by anything. they were just so stoked to get married and nothing else mattered.
in the end, the location was perfect. the blizzard made for more epic photos than ever imaginable. and just like they wanted, they got married.

we showed up at the hotel zaza bar before it opened and finished a bottle of champagne at 10am and lived out a scene from james bond. we then went and took a midday nap before we chased the sunset and explored the falls and set up a studio in the middle of a campground and ran around until it was dark. it was magical.

chelsea and brad met at a dog park and after some facebook stalking, they got married.
they both give you their full attention when they are with you. they are gentle and kind and have hearts that you can feel. they eloped literally ONE WEEK after we took their engagement photos where they summited a mountain (they would) and did the damn thing up there!
they bought this mid century home earlier this year and they have filled it with even more personality and color and warmth and honored the soul of the home so beautifully.
engagement photos in your day to day life will always be my favorite. they are the kind that mean more and more and more as the years go on. as years pass and rooms change and homes change and we grow old, you get to point back to these images of you sitting where you sat every day at one point in life. always together. back when you were young. i think it makes you feel like you are there again.
